Hey campers! We have a challenge for you..

With technology becoming an increasingly dominant presence in our daily lives, it can seem like the more connected we are, the less time we spend with each other and with nature.

The Connect Kids report (from market research agency Childwise) that was released earlier this year made for sobering reading, with children aged 5 – 16 spending an average of six and a half hours a day in front of a screen.

Whilst technology has gifted us with some incredible things – think information and communication at the touch of a button (you are reading this online after all!) – it can seem that laptops, tablets and smartphones are beginning to replace more rewarding outdoor childhood pursuits.

Anyone who has watched their little ones charging about the outdoors with friends in tow, will know that nothing else even comes close. Let’s surround them with fields and woodlands and have those become the backdrops for whatever imaginary universe they want to inhabit.

That’s why this year, we’re challenging you to log off, switch off, and leave your technology behind: for one long summer weekend, it’s about scaling trees, cooking under the stars and tearing around the woods building dens and making friends.
